ACA Online Event: Blurred Lines - Compliance Changes for Adventure Activities

Presented by ACA Partner, Aidaptive Consultants

ACA Members: Free

Non-Members: $50.00 + GST p/p.

The regulatory landscape for adventure activities is changing - and many camp operators don't yet realise how much.

The boundaries between Amusement Devices, Adventure Activities and "Items of Plant" are blurring. Equipment and installations that were once, clearly not classified under one framework, are increasingly being interpreted under another, and that shift is driving real, tangible changes to what owners and operators are expected to demonstrate from a regulatory, participant safety and insurance perspective.

If your camp operates climbing walls, flying foxes, giant swings, high ropes, low ropes, challenge courses or similar installations, the way you're expected to design, inspect, document and operate these assets is evolving. Falling behind these changes isn't just a compliance issue - it has direct implications for your insurance position and your duty of care to participants.

What you'll learn

This webinar will walk camp owners, managers and operators through the practical reality of the changing regulatory environment, with a focus on what to actually do about it. We'll cover:

  1. Device compliance — what's changing
How regulators are reinterpreting where devices sit across the Amusement Device, Adventure Activity and Items of Plant frameworks under Work Health Safety Regulations, and what that means for classification, registration and inspection of your assets.
  2. Core changes in AS2316.2.x and how they impact you
A plain-English breakdown of the new standards, including what's genuinely new, what's been tightened, and the specific obligations now placed on owners and operators of artificial climbing and adventure structures.
  3. How to reduce your risk exposure through practice and documentation
Practical guidance on the procedures, inspection regimes, training records and evidence trails that protect your operation. We'll discuss what "good" looks like, common gaps, and how to position your camp defensively if something does go wrong.
  4. Live Q&A
Bring your specific questions about your site, your devices and your operating context. This is your opportunity to get expert input on the issues you're actually grappling with.
