Victorian Blue Light Youth Camp is located in Maldon 136km northwest of Melbourne. The property is set within 200 metres to the centre of the Maldon Township, it was built in 1987 at a cost of $1.8 million, being designed to replicate the style of the original Derby Hill Gold Mine, located at the site. In 1990 the property was acquired from the Victorian Government by Blue Light Victoria and developed as a school camp.

Since this time the camp has run school camps which specialise in bicycle safety and more recently have introduced programs targeting young people who have been identified as being at risk of becoming a victim or perpetrator of crime. Blue Light Victoria traditionally has close links with Victoria Police and it is a fantastic opportunity to provide a fun and relaxed environment to build positive relationships between young people and police.

The camp offers the unique opportunity for children to undertake our Bicycle Safety Program whilst enjoying the history and adventure that the camp and the town offers.

Maldon is AustraliaÂ’s First Notable town with signifies that the streets still very much look like the 1800Â’s. In the heart of the goldfields we have authentic mine tours and diggings, steam train rides and museums highlighting the European settlement of the area. Together with amazing views from historic Mt Tarrengower that provide brilliant hiking trails, uninterrupted views to the Loddon Valley, Grampians, Mt Alexander, Mt Macedon, Mt Franklin, volcanic rock formations and Cairn Curran Reservoir. The mine diggings, ruins and the native flora and fauna make it a paradise for nature enthusiasts of the local environment and historically for many thousands of years with the Dja Dja Wurrung people.
