Orana Camp is owned by Girl Guides Tasmania and has been operational since 1967. Orana is available to schools, clubs, Scouts, Guides, youth and craft groups, conferences, training, corporate events, wedding, funerals. Orana operates as a non-for-profit camp and is administered and maintained by volunteers. All fees are used to maintain and develop the camp site.
Malunna Camp House
This large brick building consists of a commercial kitchen, large dining room with wood heater, carpeted conference room with electric heating, male and female amenities, disabled bathroom and will sleep 63 people comfortably in bunk rooms.
Malunna is self-catering and is equipped with cooking, eating and seating facilities for 100. There is a commercial refrigerator, small freezer, 6 burner duel fuel stove and oven, bain marie, automatic urn, toaster and dish washer. There is a large BBQ near the kitchen.
The laundry has a coin operated washing machine, dryer and iron.
The conference room has white board and some audio-visual equipment including overhead projector, large screen and DVD player. There is a lectern and electric organ.
Cooinda Camp House
This is the original home on the property, it sleeps 24 in three bunk rooms. There is a kitchen/dining room with dual fuel stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, automatic urn, toasters, electric frypan, crockery and cutlery. Lounge room with wood heater and television. Laundry has washing machine. There is indoor and outdoor bathroom each with toilet, shower and hand basin. There is a BBQ under cover.
The Barn
The Barn can be hired for the day or can be used for base when camping. When booking the whole camp, the barn is included, it has a BBQ, electric urn, refrigerator, tables and chairs, benches and a wood heater. Crockery and cutlery utensils are not provided. Toilet block is nearby.
The Chapel
This a consecrated open-air chapel on site and it is suitable for weddings, funerals, christenings and church services.
On-site Facilities
A fitness course, challenge valley (large play equipment), cricket pitch, outdoor gym equipment and childrenÂ’s playground are all located on the site as well as a safe beach for water activities.
Orana is approximately 20 kilometres from Hobart city centre on the Eastern Shore and 10 minutes from the airport. It is established on 31 acres of natural bushland with plentiful bird life and native fauna. The property is situated on beautiful Roches Beach with direct access to the sheltered beach frontage, access is wheelchair friendly.
