Australian Camps Association Initiates National Insurance Program Feasibility Study for Camps and Led Outdoor Activity Sector
Insurance continues to be a major issue for the majority of operators in the camps and led outdoor activity sector. When speaking with our members insurance pricing and availability has come up as an issue in almost every conversation.
Based on these conversations, the Australian Camps Association, the national peak body for camps and associated providers, has been looking for solutions to help all camps across the country improve their insurance cover and cost. Other national bodies have implemented a National Insurance Program to help their stakeholders reduce the cost of insurance premiums, and the ACA would like to explore the feasibility of a National Program for Camps. This Feasibility Study is not guaranteed to provide a solution, but if we don’t explore the options, we will never know.
As a first step, we are looking to collect some basic information from a collection providers, pooling this together and tasking Howden to conduct a Feasibility Study on our behalf. The purpose of the study will be to investigate options to build a specific solution for our community that will challenge and open up additional insurance markets.
At the end of this exercise, we are aiming to achieve competitive premiums and strong coverage for the sector and create a community where we support each other. In the long-term this will remove the aggravation of shopping around and provide a cost-effective solution.
The Australian Camps Association invites camps and led outdoor activity providers across Australia to participate in the feasibility study, the more who participate the better the data we will collect to assist us to find a solution.
