Adventure Activity Standards

When you are conducting activities, critical factors include planning, supervision, ratios and group size. In addition to activity specific organisations – who may also offer training – there are state based Adventure Activity Standards (National Adventure Activity Standards are currently being developed) and State Education Departments sites that provide excellent information about common outdoor activities.

If your activity is not mentioned in these sites, the general safety principles used by them can still be applied when writing your own operating procedures. See a generic activity template.
