General Information

• On 29 March 2020, the Australian Government launched a WhatsApp message service to help people access timely information. To access this click here and then click ‘send.’ You will then receive a message from the Australian Government’s WhatsApp Channel and you can select what topics you would like more information on. There is also a coronavirus app for the Apple app platform and Android, and the government is encouraging anyone with a phone to download the app.   
   
• Read an explanation of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by the World Health Organisation.
   
• Review the daily Monitoring of COVID-19 by the Australian Government Department of Health.

•  On 5 May 2020, The Australian Camps Association released a COVID-19 Guidance Document for Camps. You can view this document here.

• The Australian Department of Health has produced ‘Environmental cleaning and disinfection principles for health and residential care facilities’. Review the principles here.

• The Australian Department of Health has developed Fact Sheets for the general public and industry about COVID-19. The Fact sheets are continuing to be added to and updated so please click here to find the most current information available.

  • (Update 31 March 2020) - 

    Safe Work Australia has published new information and resources on COVID-19 and work health and safety.

    Under the model work health and safety laws, employers have a duty of care for the health and safety of their workers and others at the workplace.

    The new information includes:

    • Information for small business
    • Information for workers
    • What to do if a worker has COVID-19 - infographic

New information on minimising the risk of exposure to COVID-19 is also available for specific industries:

• Building and construction
• Retail work
• Taxi and ride share services
• Office workers
• Delivery drivers

• Agriculture

Safe Work Australia will continue to update these web pages and resources to provide the latest information to workers and employers on work health and safety and COVID-19.

• The Australian Government has advised everyone to practice social distancing. This fact sheet by the Australian Government's Department of Health outlines what social distancing involves, as well as what it means to practice good hygene.
   
• An Infection Control Training Module, “How to protect yourself and the people you are caring for from infection with COVID–19" is available online. This is provided by the Australian Department of Health. They have also provided campaign resources.
